Nitya Taunk was born and brought up in a small town of Markapur in Andhra Pradesh. She belongs to a Gujrati business family specializing in Natural Slate Stones business from where she developed the affinity for everything natural. Due to her ancestral roots from Kutch, a place of great Salt Marsh commonly known as Great Rann of Kutch, a place of cultural and traditional heritage, she had an inherent quality and love for natural colours.

Every loop of knits in her work defines a simple yet elegant style, she loves experimenting with materials and vivid concepts by making it technical and practical with strong attention to research. To ignite her dreams, she went on to enroll into India’s leading fashion institute, National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Chennai where she completed Bachelor of Knitwear Designing and was bestowed with the ‘Best Design Collection of the year 2015’ award. After working with certain Export Houses, NGO’s and Fashion Labels, she decided to start her our own label under the Brand Thou Art, which simply means “You Are”. It symbolizes the importance of self-care and self-love. Embodies the grace and elegance that defines a modern woman.
